CLASSES

Akurei MMA and Fitness Centre offers a range of classes which are suitable for absolute beginners to professionals with any fitness level, all you need to do is turn up.

We know that walking into a martial arts gym can be daunting for most people however, we have a high number of female, male and children member’s along with approachable and professional coaches – so, you have nothing to be afraid or nervous about!

We offer affordable and non contract gym memberships, professionally ran classes which are taught by coaches who are experts in their fields to help you reach your goals.

K1 KICKBOXING

K1 is a combat sport which focuses primarily on the stand up techniques of punching, kicking and kneeing from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Boxing, Kung fu and more.

The training contains a high level of fitness, flexibility, stamina and strength. You will learn realistic, practical and effective fighting skills suitable for semi, light and full contact fights (if you do wish to fight).

K1 will help you develop a toned body, self confidence, flexibility, relive stress and much more. This class is suitable for absolute beginners to professionals.

You don’t need to bring any special equipment with you, just wear comfortable clothing.

MUAY THAI/THAI BOXING

Thai Boxing is a combat sport that has been developed in Thailand.

It is known also as ‘The Art of Eight Limbs’, because both hands, elbows, knees and legs can be used to attack an opponent.

This class is suitable for all levels and we provide the required gloves and shin pads needed for this class.

BOXING

Boxing is a great way to stay in shape, develop speed, discipline, agility and coordination.

This class is perfect for beginners, those who wish to just try a combat sport or those who wish to develop their boxing skills further.

You don’t need any special equipment, just wear comfortable clothing.

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts is a rapidly growing sport, classes include a range of martial arts including: Grappling, Wrestling, Muay Thai, K1 Kickboxing, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu and other techniques.

This class is suitable for all levels and any gender!

If you don’t with to fight, it is a great full body workout, and you’ll learn great self defense skills.

If you do wish to take part in this class, you don’t need any special equipment but it is advisable that men wear a jock strap!

KIDS K-1 KICKBOXING CLASSES

If you’re looking for a way to encourage your children to do more physical exercise, our classes can help!

We offer Children’s K1 and Jiu Jitsu classes which are suitable for children aged 4 – 13 years old.

Our gym is spacious, full equipped and has martial art purpose fitted flooring.

As well as encouraging your children to exercise, our classes can-

BJJ (NO – GI)

One of the fastest growing martial arts.

Become familiar with grappling techniques, control your opponent or attacker & apply a submission; think MMA/UFC without the striking.

This class is suitable for all levels.

If you do wish to take part in this class, you don’t need any special equipment but it is advisable that men wear a jock strap!

BJJ (NO – GI) BEGINNER COURSE

If you don’t quite have the confidence to join in our regular BJJ No-Gi classes yet, we also run 8 week beginner courses.

The course is designed for people who haven’t trained before.  You will learn the fundamental techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  All the beginner classes are taught by Jamie Taylor who is a brown belt under Steve Campbell.

After the 8 week course you will be familiar with the main grappling techniques and move onto the regular classes.

BJJ (GI)

The Worlds premier grappling art, combining skill, strategy & quickness into a nearly unbeatable mix of submission holds, wrestling take downs & reversals.

Please note: A jiu jitsu gi is required for this.

Junior BJJ (GI)

Get your child off the games consoles and onto the mats with BJJ starting on the 26th August.

Suitable for ages 7 – 12, classes are £4 or there’s a monthly membership available for £24.

There’s many benefits to this class, including-

  • Increases their self confidence
  • They will learn self defence techniques that work in real life situations
  • Improves their mental focus
  • Meet new friends
  • Keeps them fit, strong and flexible
  • Decreases the risk of bullying
  • They will learn a skill for life that will enrich it in many different ways.

Class Times: Wednesday 5pm and Friday 5:30pm

Kids will require a GI for this, we have them available to order in the gym.

METAFIT/TABATA

No matter what fitness level you are, this class is suitable for everyone.

You don’t need to bring any special equipment with you just comfortable clothing, trainers and a drink of water.

Metafit is a 30 minute whole body, body weight HIIT workout which is designed to-

  • Boost Fitness Levels
  • Increase Fat Burning
  • Work Major Muscle Groups
  • Increase Energy Levels
  • Increases your Resting Metabolic Rate

WRESTLING

This class teaches you various techniques such as – grappling type techniques, throws, take downs, joint locks, pins and other grappling type holds.

Wrestling classes can be strenuous and involve throws and being thrown.

Benefits of wrestling –

  • Develop speed, flexibility, endurance and strength
  • Body conditioning

This class is also perfect if you take part in BJJ and MMA as it will help you develop your ground game further.

BOOTCAMP – COMING SOON

This class is aimed at people who are wanting to kick start their fitness journey – we welcome any age, gender and body shape!

Bootcamp class is a 60 minute interval training class which includes a mix of high intensity cardio exercises and strength and condition training.

YOGA – STARTING 27TH SEPTEMBER

Yoga is an ancient form of excerise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

The main components of components of yoga are postures (designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.

Most forms of yoga are not strenuous.

Personal Training Sessions help you achieve your goals faster and are available for all gym and non gym members.
